VIDEO: MPP Jim Wilson Launches Service Club Petition

(May 25, 2015) Today, Simcoe-Grey MPP Jim Wilson took to the floor of the Ontario Legislature to remind the Liberals of their support for his private members resolution that calls on their government to form a committee to investigate the problems hindering service clubs across the province.

Wilson used the opportunity to also launch a petition.

"I have raised this issue many, many times ... In February, this House passed my private members' resolution ... I have received all party support for the establishment of this committee, but nothing has happened," said Wilson. "To further my effort, today, I will be officially launching a petition to encourage immediate action."

Wilson believes service clubs are the backbone of our province and a win-win, making Ontario a better place to live and to do business while alleviating a significant financial burden from provincial coffers. He questions the governing Liberals delay in moving the standing committee forward and hopes his petition will assist in this regard.

"I encourage this government to give service clubs the support they deserve. It's time to task a committee of this Legislature to investigate the problems that are hindering service clubs from doing the good work they do in our communities across the province day in and day out."
