VIDEO: Wilson introduces New Tecumseth hydro resolution
(November 4, 2015) Simcoe-Grey MPP Jim Wilson, in the Ontario Legislature yesterday, delivered a Town of New Tecumseth resolution that calls on the province to halt its plans to sell off Hydro One.
"Speaker, the government needs to listen to the concerns that municipalities have regarding the sale of Hydro One. Close to 200 municipalities have passed resolutions like New Tecumseth's," Wilson said.
He later added the province's business community and citizens have also been calling on the government to stop the sale.
Last week, the Financial Accountability Office said if the province sells Hydro One the financial health of Ontario would be worse than if the sale didn't happen.
Wilson noted the sale could cost the province around $700 million in revenue every year, and the net profit could be as low as $1.4 billion.
