Thank You Simcoe-Grey
(June 20, 2014) It is with immense humility and great pride that I take this opportunity to thank you, the residents of Simcoe-Grey, for granting me the privilege of once again serving as your provincial representative at Queen’s Park. I can say unequivocally that I am honoured to be your Member of Provincial Parliament and represent you and your priorities in the 41st Legislative Assembly of Ontario.
I also want to take a moment to commend my fellow candidates. Taking on an election campaign is an arduous task. It requires numerous volunteers and countless hours to get out to knock on doors, make phone calls, staff offices, hammer in lawn signs and to serve and assist voters and the media in their search for information. Whether you worked on my campaign or for one of my opponents, I congratulate and thank you for your commitment and willingness to participate in the democratic process.
This was a hard fought election, and while Ontario’s support for the Progressive Conservative Party fell short, I have faith in my colleagues and hope for the future.
Over the next four years, the Ontario PC Caucus will remain strong as we continue to ask the hard hitting questions and hold the Liberal Government to account. A leadership race is now ahead for our Party, but if this election proved anything it is a change that is long overdue. Our party needs to reinvent itself to be able to appeal to more of the electorate.
Locally, I will continue to fight for reduced hydro rates, to bring new jobs to our area and to ensure we receive our fair share of health care services—including an expansion of our local hospitals, improved services and funding for our local hospices.
I want you to know that representing Simcoe-Grey is a job that I love, and I look forward to the challenging and rewarding work that lies ahead. As always, I invite you to contact me if I can be of any assistance to you, your family or your neighbours in dealings with the Province of Ontario.
Thank you again for your many years of support. I am humbled by the confidence you have placed in me and I will continue to be a strong and consistent voice as I advocate on your behalf at Queen’s Park.
