Wilson Introduces Petition to Address Discrepancy in Hospice Funding
(April 28th, 2014) Today, Simcoe-Grey MPP Jim Wilson launched a petition calling upon Kathleen Wynne and the Minister of Health to immediately address the discrepancy between how hospices are funded in Ontario. Wilson is concerned that Matthews House Hospice in Alliston is not receiving its fair share of government health dollars
The petition urges the Wynne government to immediately develop a comprehensive strategy to deal with hospice funding to ensure that people in South Simcoe and all Ontarians receive equal access to end of life care.
Wilson has raised this issue with the Liberal government on a number of occasions, but has not received a response. Wilson urges anyone that can to visit his website at www.jimwilsonmpp.com and print off hard copies of the petition to circulate amongst friends and neighbours. The petition will help Wilson show the Wynne government that this discrepancy in funding is wrong and that all hospices deserve the same level of support.
Since original signatures are required, completed petitions can be dropped off or mailed to Wilson’s offices. Collingwood: 50 Hume Street, Collingwood, Ontario, L9Y 1A6; Alliston: 180 Parsons Road, Unit 28, Alliston, Ontario L9R 1E8. Wilson’s office can also be reached by calling 1 (800) 268-7542.
