VIDEO: Wilson Congratulates Collingwood Hospital on Outstanding Recognition

(November 19, 2013) Simcoe-Grey MPP Jim Wilson is always happy to recognize his area’s local hospitals. Today, he rose in the Legislature to congratulate the Collingwood General and Marine Hospital for having received the second highest designation from Accreditation Canada for outstanding standards of excellence in the delivery of healthcare.

“This distinguished recognition is acknowledgement of the hospitals commitment to their patients and the value they place on the safety and the wellbeing of those they serve,” said Wilson.  “It also speaks to the tremendous team of physicians, nurses, staff, volunteers and board members who work tirelessly to make it all possible.”

Wilson was incredibly proud to hear the hospital met 97.4% of nearly 2000 standards of care. Accreditation surveyors spent three days evaluating the hospital by comparing their performance with national standards.

“Mr. Speaker, for a small town hospital that is literally bursting at the seams. That sees more emergency visits in a year than most hospitals across the province. That has had an expansion application into this government for over nine years. And, that is also under considerable fiscal restraint because of this government’s various scandals and poor management. To work within their budget to provide such high quality of care and to do it well is an impressive accomplishment and is something the hospital should be incredibly proud of,” continued Wilson.

“As MPP for Simcoe-Grey, I am tremendously grateful to the people at our local hospital for their ongoing commitment and dedication to our community.  They make our area a better place to live, to work, and to play and for that I would like to thank them for a job well done.”

Wilson continues to make both the Collingwood and Alliston Hospital his top priority and is devoted to the construction of new hospitals in both communities.  In light of the recent Liberal scandals, he is concerned that it may take a change in government to get the job done.
