Wilson Congratulates the Lions and Lioness Clubs on their 50th and 35th Anniversaries

(May 8, 2013) Simcoe-Grey MPP Jim Wilson was pleased to rise in the House yesterday to congratulate the Wasaga Beach Lions and Lioness Clubs on the 50th and 35th anniversary of their respective Charters.

“Together these organizations have contributed significantly to the betterment of every aspect of our community and play an important part in our region’s history,” said Wilson. “True to their slogan they “have fun while helping others” and without question they have left an indelible mark on our community with a lasting effect for generations to come.”

Wilson reflected on the origins of the Wasaga Beach Lions Clubs and how significant their efforts have been throughout the years. He also praised both clubs for their involvement with various aspects of the community.

“One of their first donations was an ambulance to the Town of Wasaga Beach. They funded the construction of our local Wasaga Stars Arena. They contributed to the development of our library, to our local RecPlex, to parks and bus shelters and also to the Small Fry Club, which preceded kindergarten in the province of Ontario,” said Wilson. “As MPP for Simcoe-Grey, I could not be more proud of the membership of our local Lions and Lioness Clubs and would like to thank them for their tremendous contributions to our community.”
