Hudak Gives Wilson Additional Responsibilities

Hudak and Wilson

(July 28, 2009) Leader of the Official Opposition, Tim Hudak (MPP Niagara West - Glanbrook) is pleased to announce that Jim Wilson MPP for Simcoe-Grey is appointed Critic for Research and Innovation, in addition to being re-appointed Critic for Colleges and Universities.  Wilson will also continue as Deputy Speaker of the Ontario Legislature.

"Jim is a bright and talented veteran of our Queen's Park team," said Hudak.  "He will use his experience as Ontario's first Minister of Science and Technology to lead our efforts to build a stronger knowledge economy and hold the Liberals to account."
"Our Caucus will provide a principled conservative plan and a winning alternative to the failed leadership of the McGuinty Liberals," said Hudak. "I am looking forward to working with Jim as Critic for Colleges and Universities and Research and Innovation and to expanding our party together as we work to victory in 2011."
Since being first elected in 1990, Wilson has held a variety of senior Cabinet portfolios, including Health, Environment, Energy, Science and Technology and Northern Development and Mines.

Under Dalton McGuinty, Ontario's taxes and government waste have hit new heights.  Meanwhile, on Dalton's watch, Ontario lost 330,000 manufacturing jobs, became a have-not province, and has a record $18.5 billion provincial deficit.

"We need innovative ideas grounded in conservative principles in order to get Ontario moving", said Hudak. "Together, united and strong, we can focus on the issues that matter to middle-class families, defeat Dalton McGuinty and the Ontario Liberals, and bring prosperity to our province."

"The people of Simcoe-Grey are fortunate to have an MPP of the caliber of Jim Wilson representing them in the Ontario Legislature," Hudak said.
