October 29, 2021 - Congratulations to the 2021 inductees to the South Simcoe Hall of Fame. Simcoe-Grey MPP Jim Wilson was honoured to attend the virtual event and bring greetings on behalf of the province.

“Volunteers improve our quality of life,” Wilson told attendees.  “The remarkable people being honoured this year work quietly and tirelessly to make South Simcoe the livable community it is.”

Named to the Hall of Fame were:

Bob and Margaret Milligan whose contributions range from helping at the Beeton Agriculture Society and the Fall Fair to the St. Vincent De Paul Society and the Catholic Women’s League.

CWL member Beatriz Baumfeld who is a determined fundraiser for Alliston Out of the Cold and is active with Neighbourhood Watch, Beavers, Cubs and Scouts.  She also drives people to appointments and acts as an essential caregiver.

Dave Bradbury who, as vice-president of the Good Sheppard Food Bank, steered the organization’s move to a new larger location on Wellington Street.  He also gives back to the community as a volunteer with the Kinsman Club.

Dian Bowers is an accomplished creative writer. As a member of the South Simcoe Arts Council she established the New Tecumseth Public Library Wordsmiths writing group to mentor and encourage other authors to share their skills and experiences.  She also helps out with the Potato Festival and Scouts Canada.

And, Susan Leach, a ski patroller who offers first aid instruction, who also finds time to volunteer with Alliston Rotary, Polo for Health, the 4H club and the Canadian Cancer Society.  She also helps maintain the St. John's United community garden.

“If you want to get something done, ask a busy person” said MPP Wilson.  “Busy people always seem to find the time to do more.”
