VIDEO: MPP Wilson Continues Hospital Quest

October 2, 2020 – Simcoe-Grey MPP Jim Wilson has renewed his ongoing struggle for a new hospital to serve the growing needs of South Georgian Bay.  The MPP has been spearheading the drive for a modern facility in Collingwood to replace the building which has provided health care to the region for more than 60 years.

“Governments have funded hospitals in communities all around my riding...from Owen Sound to Barrie, and Midland to Newmarket.  Recently we learned that Markdale is getting a new building,” Wilson informed the Legislature.  “When will the government move forward with the long-awaited development of a new Collingwood General and Marine Hospital?” he asked Ontario Health Minister Christine Elliott.

Citing pressures that the COVID-19 pandemic is having on her ministry’s infrastructure budget, and the needs of other aging facilities in the province, Elliott would only commit that discussions regarding Collingwood are ongoing.  She hopes talks will be concluded soon.
