A Utopia businessman has stepped up to help meet the growing demand for reusable non-medical masks. Simcoe-Grey MPP Jim Wilson met with Patrick McKenna to pick up a small supply of the face-coverings for staff in his offices in Alliston, Collingwood and Toronto.

McKenna's company, Infinite SD, normally provides a range of services for clients around the world in the entertainment and event industries. When business slowed in March because of the COVID-19 pandemic, he began looking for ways the unique skills Infinite has developed over the years could be put to good use.

"Making masks for everyday use was a no-brainer for us," said McKenna. "We understand the materials, we have the supply chain, and we have the manufacturing ability to make a quality product at a reasonable price," he added.

Made of polyester and spandex, the Infinite mask is breathable, comfortable and lightweight. It has a minimum one-year life span with regular use and washing.

"I'm proud that a locally-based company has found ways to use its skills and resources for the greater good," said Mr. Wilson. "With their core business temporarily side-lined, Infinite has been able to re-direct its efforts, and keep people working, while at the same time helping to keep Canadians stay safe during this pandemic."

Infinite is in the process of supplying thousands of masks throughout Canada. The company is gearing up to manufacture several thousand of them weekly to meet demand. They can be ordered online through the Infinite website here: http://infinitesd.com/masks/

As of July 13 everyone in Simcoe County is required to wear a face-cover in all indoor spaces accessible by the public. A similar order took effect in Grey County July 17.

Masks are considered an additional protection measure. People should still be practising physical distancing, hand hygiene, cough etiquette, and staying home when sick.
