VIDEO: Wilson continues to pressure government on Wasaga Beach maintenance issue

(October 11, 2017) - Simcoe-Grey MPP Jim Wilson continues to push the Liberal government to improve beachfront maintenance at Wasaga Beach.

Last week, Wilson spoke in the Legislature about the matter.

“Many areas of the beach are now overgrown with weeds and other vegetation and many public parking areas are in a state of disrepair,” he said.

In his statement, Wilson said the Town of Wasaga Beach relies on the beachfront areas to attract visitors to the community to fuel its economy.

“The government’s refusal to properly maintain the beachfront areas is negatively affecting the economic well-being of this beautiful community,” he said.

Wilson’s petition on the beachfront has attracted thousands of signatures. Petitions are still being circulated in the community and are available at Wilson’s office in Collingwood.

“It’s time the government acted on this situation. The current state of the beachfront is unacceptable and must be cleaned up,” he said.
