MPP Wilson pays tribute to the late Mr. Mervyn Denney

(November 16, 2016) Yesterday in the Ontario Legislature, Simcoe-Grey MPP Jim Wilson delivered a Member's Statement in honour of the late Mervyn Denney.

Mr. Denney served as reeve of Essa Township in the early 1960s and was involved in many other aspects of community life, including serving on Essa's committee of adjustment and planning board, where he provided sage advice on matters of local importance.

He was also a lifetime member of the Orange Lodge in Baxter, and well-known for his readiness to help neighbours and friends.

When Mr. Wilson was first seeking the PC nomination in 1990, Mr. Denney was one of his earliest supporters. In that capacity, he took Mr. Wilson to practically every farmhouse in the township to introduce him to local residents.

"I'm extremely grateful to Mr. Denney for the support he showed me in those early days and for his friendship over the years," Mr. Wilson said.
